West Midlands Innovation Project

International Synergies Ltd (ISL) has a long history of supporting businesses in the West Midlands to reduce waste, cut carbon, and make better use of resources. Working in partnership with the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA), we’ve built a strong foundation through regional programmes that help companies turn challenging waste streams — such as wastewater, sand, sludge, and metals — into opportunities for cost savings, carbon reduction and business growth.

More About The Project

The West Midlands Innovation Project builds on this proven track record by creating a Circular Innovation Pipeline designed to accelerate the region’s transition to a more circular, low-carbon economy.

The Pipeline will provide a structured way to identify and develop innovation opportunities that deliver real impact for businesses and communities. By strategically aligning with national and regional priorities — including the National Industrial Strategy, the forthcoming Circular Economy Strategy and the West Midlands Growth Plan — the project aims to connect businesses with research, funding and innovation programmes that can bring circular solutions to life.

The first phase of the project focuses on defining the strategic vision and framework for the Pipeline. This includes identifying regional strengths, mapping priority sectors such as housing, transport, battery technology and manufacturing, and creating clear routes to progress opportunities from concept to delivery. Working closely with sector leaders, research institutions and businesses, ISL will help shape a practical, region-wide approach to circular innovation.
