Identifying Circular Economy Business Opportunities on the island of Ireland

17th April 2024

In March 2024, International Synergies Ltd (ISL) launched its research report, ‘Identifying Circular Economy Business Opportunities on the Island of Ireland,’ at the All-Ireland Sustainability Summit. The research was funded by the all-island economic development agency, InterTradeIreland (ITI).

Chief Executive Dr Rachel Lombardi led a stimulating panel discussion that brought together experts in policy and business from across the island to explore the delivery of circular economy opportunities, and how businesses can benefit from these. Panellists Dr. Stuart Mathieson (Research Manager, ITI), Philip Nugent (Assistant Secretary, Circular Economy and Governance, Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications), Heidi Redmond (Circular Economy Advisor, Department for the Economy), Sally O’Kane (Sustainability Consultant) and John Greer (Director of Economic Development, Belfast City Council) explored a range of topics.

The report was well received and ISL hope that it assists both small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and policymakers across the island towards a framework that can promote a circular economy that provides economic and environmental benefits.
